Design Services

Designed to Fit. Built to Last

Design is the starting point of every successful vehicle access and goods handling solution. From feasibility through to specification, we help identify the right system for the space and ensure it fits — physically, functionally, and legally.

Our team can assist with every step from initial concept, through Development Application (DA), Construction Certification (CC) to detailed specification including assistance with regulated design drawings.

And the earlier we’re involved, the more value we bring. HLS works closely with architects, developers, access consultants, and builders to ensure car lifts, car stackers, turntables, and goods lifts are integrated seamlessly into the structure and workflow of a project — preventing costly redesigns, space conflicts, or compliance issues down the line.

Designs That Work — On Paper and On Site

Every HLS design is backed by real-world experience. The design phase is led by Alexander Sharpe, Director of HLS Equipment, who brings over a decade of hands-on knowledge gained from hundreds of successful installations across Australia.

Our approach ensures your system is more than just code-compliant — it’s practical, efficient, and well-integrated into your site. We account for site-specific factors like slope grades, access restrictions, spatial constraints, excavation feasibility, and surrounding traffic or movement patterns. Where better outcomes can be achieved, we’ll propose smart alternatives — whether that’s adjusting the footprint of a lift, reorienting a turntable, or recommending a more efficient stacker configuration.

Our technical capabilities include:

  • Feasibility studies and system selection
  • Integration of vehicle movement paths and turning circles into architectural layouts
  • CAD documentation to ensure fit and prevent clashes
  • Load and specification calculations in line with Design Registration requirements
  • Alignment with DA and CC planning and compliance pathways

We work closely with project teams through a mix of on-site meetings, digital coordination platforms, round-table discussions, and manufacturer briefings — adapting to your team’s preferred workflow.

Technical Precision, Built In

To ensure each system is dimensionally and operationally viable, we overlay vehicle paths, lift footprints, and stacker clearances into building layouts using CAD software. Our process includes:

  • Clash detection and integration checks with architectural and structural elements
  • Verification that selected vehicle types fall within operational bounds
  • Coordination with access consultants, engineers, and other stakeholders — and open discussion where conflicts arise

This ensures everything fits, works, and complies before it’s built — avoiding the all-too-common issues of poor fit or post-construction modifications.

Multi-Brand Expertise

As an independent supplier, HLS is not limited to a single manufacturer’s product range. This allows us to recommend the right solution — or mix of solutions — based on performance, price, spatial efficiency, and overall project fit.

We source from leading European brands and global manufacturers, enabling access to a wide range of proven technologies and design-tested systems. In some projects, combining products from multiple suppliers delivers the best outcome. In these cases, we carefully manage spatial, mechanical, and electrical compatibility to ensure all systems work together seamlessly.

Our independence also means we avoid overly bespoke designs unless absolutely necessary. Where possible, we use proven, type-tested equipment that delivers efficiency, maintainability, and reliability — all while staying adaptable for custom requirements when a project demands it

Designed for Australian Conditions

Australian environmental conditions are front-of-mind in every design. Whether it’s the impact of coastal air on lift components, the need for flood resilience in underground systems, or extreme heat management in exposed installations, HLS selects and specifies systems that are built to endure.

These considerations are not simply applied at the end—they are embedded from the beginning. Our team actively raises these requirements early in the design conversation to ensure the selected solution remains viable, safe, and serviceable in the long term.
